Cabinet and row cabling
Cabinet and row cabling.
Inside a cabinet the goal is simple: every server, switch and PDU connected the way the design says, with cables you can trace in seconds. We run Cat6 and Cat6A from patch panels to top of rack switches and servers, cut cords to length, and route power and data on opposite sides so they never fight for space.
Across a row we use the overhead tray or ladder rack the site already has, keep bend radius and fill in check, and leave service loops where the design wants them. When a row is done, the cabinets look like they were built the same day, because they were built to one plan.
Top of rack and in-cabinet runs
Copper patching from panels to switches and servers, cut to length and dressed.
Cabinet to cabinet
Runs between cabinets and rows through the existing tray, with fill and bend radius in check.
Power and data kept apart
PDU cords on one side, data on the other, so swaps never mean untangling.
Blanks and airflow
Open U covered and cables kept out of the airflow path.
Fiber trunks and patching
Fiber trunks and patching.
Fiber ties the cabinets to each other and to the carriers. We install pre-terminated trunks and cassettes, run fiber in the tray with the right protection, and land it in the enclosures the design calls for. Patching between switches and panels is done with the right length cords, routed through the managers, and labeled.
Each trunk and port is recorded, so the port map shows which cassette port goes to which switch port and which cabinet. If the site asks for loss testing, tell us when you send the scope and we will spell out in the quote how it is handled.
Cable management and labeling
Cable management and labeling.
Good cable management is what makes a data center easy to work in a year later. Horizontal and vertical managers are used the way they were meant to be, bundles are combed and supported, and nothing hangs across a fan or a handle.
Every cable gets the same ID at both ends, and every panel port is labeled to match. The label scheme follows yours if you have one. If you do not, we suggest a simple one and write it down, so the next tech can follow it.
As-builts
As-builts your team can use.
At the end you get documents that match what is installed: port maps, cable schedules and rack elevations. For surveys of existing rooms we use Rack Survey, the app we built for our own work, which turns every rack, port and photo into a numbered drawing set and a private client page.

Working in a live data center
Working in a live data center.
Most data center work happens around equipment that cannot go down. We plan the work in change windows, follow the site's escort, badge and photo rules, and keep tools and spools out of the aisle. Before anything is moved we photograph it and record where it goes.
We send short updates at the end of each window: what was done, what is next and anything that needs a decision. No surprises for the client's operations team.
FAQ
Data center cabling questions.
Do you work in live data centers and colos?
Yes. We work inside change windows, follow the site's escort and access rules, and keep work tidy in occupied rows. Nothing gets unplugged without a plan and an OK.
Copper or fiber?
Both. Cat6 and Cat6A for in-cabinet and top of rack runs, and fiber trunks and patching between cabinets, rows and the meet-me room as the design calls for.
Do you label everything?
Every cable is labeled at both ends with the same ID, and every patch panel port matches the port map you get at the end.
What documents do we get?
Port maps, cable schedules and rack elevations that match what is installed. If you want a full rack survey drawing set, we make it with our own Rack Survey app.
What areas do you cover?
New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland, and nationwide for data center projects.
Planning data center cabling work?
Send the scope, the drawings or a few photos and the window, and we will put together a clear, written quote.
